 this quote states that you should always stick to doing the right thing and making sure to never become a bad person. if someone is doing something they are supposed to then other people around you or them will want to support you or be your friend because you were doing something you were supposed to do.Doing something that you know its right shouldn't make you feel lazy it should make you feel strong and good about yourself.Its like what Abraham Lincoln is saying you shouldn't care about winning or some sort you should only care for doing something that you are supposed to do other than taking something that you'll only enjoy for a little while. but if you do the correct things and other stuff you you feel happy and accomplished.
